Imperative mood

The imperative mood (pavēles izteiksme) gives commands and requests. The singular form usually equals the present-tense stem; the plural adds -iet.

Runā!
Speak! (sg.)
Runājiet!
Speak! (pl.)
Lasi!
Read! (sg.)
Lasiet!
Read! (pl.)
Esi uzmanīgs!
Be careful!

For the first person plural (‘let’s …’) the future-like form is used, and for the third person the word lai is added.

Iesim!
Let’s go!
Lai viņš nāk!
Let him come!
