Participles (divdabji) are verb forms that behave like adjectives or adverbs. Latvian is rich in participles; the main ones, formed from lasīt (to read), are:
lasošs
reading (present active)
lasījis
having read (past active)
lasāms
readable, to be read (present passive)
lasīts
read (past passive)
lasīdams
while reading (adverbial)
lasot
while reading (verbal adverb)
The declinable participles (e.g. lasošs, lasīts) agree with their noun like adjectives. The forms in -ot and -dams do not decline.
