In Latvian, nouns belong to one of the six declensions, which may be labeled using the Roman numbers I-VI or using the Arabic numbers with a dot: 1. deklinācija through 6. deklinācija.
Declensions I, II, and III contain masculine nouns. Declensions IV, V, and VI — feminine nouns. (There may be minor exceptions.)
